The early members lived in the nearby\u00a0Ein Harod\u00a0until\u00a01934, when construction of the kibbutz began at its present location, approximately\u00a01 kilometer east of Shatta.<\/p>\n<p>The land for the kibbutz was purchased in\u00a01931\u00a0by the\u00a0Palestine Land Development Company\u00a0from its\u00a0Arab owners.<\/p>\n<p>In\u00a02015,\u00a0Yasmin Donahaye, a descendant of kibbutz residents, published a book titled\u00a0<em><i>&#8220;Losing Israel&#8221;<\/i><\/em>, in which she expressed her\u00a0disappointment upon learning that Arabs had been displaced\u00a0at the time of the kibbutz\u2019s establishment.<\/p>\n<p>Beit HaShita was established\u00a0near the depopulated Palestinian village of Al-Marsas, in the\u00a0District of Baysan.<\/p>\n<p>According to\u00a01945 statistics, Beit HaShita had a population of\u00a0590 settlers, all of whom were\u00a0Zionist immigrants.
