Great Mosque Of Nablus
The minaret of the Great Mosque of Nablus, also known as Al-Salahi Mosque. It is the oldest and largest mosque in Nablus, located at the eastern end of the Old City.
The site originally housed a Roman basilica, which was converted into a church during the Byzantine era, then a mosque under the Islamic role.
The mosque was later converted to a church during the Crusaders' invasion, which was defeated at the hands of the Ayyubids in the 12th century.
The mosque suffered severe damage during the 1927 earthquake, which destroyed its dome and minaret, but these were later restored. It is known for its grand eastern entrance, featuring elaborate interlocking stone arches and decorative elements.
