Moshav Sde Trumot

Sde Trumot is a moshav (cooperative agricultural settlement) established in 1951 on the lands of the depopulated Palestinian village of Al-Samiriyya, located in the District of Baysan (Beit She’an). The moshav was founded just north of the original site of the village and lies approximately 7 kilometers (4 miles) south of Beisan.

As of 2017, the population of Sde Trumot was 449 settlers.

About Al-Samiriyya Village:

The village of Al-Samiriyya was situated on a flat tract of land in the Beisan Valley, to the east of the main road leading to Beisan. It was strategically located at a road junction, including the Beisan–Jericho highway. The village mosque was constructed at the intersection of two routes: one leading to the village of Qa’oun, and the other connecting it to Arab al-‘Arida.

By the end of the British Mandate period, the village expanded with the construction of new houses along the main road. In 1945, the population of Al-Samiriyya was approximately 250 inhabitants, of whom 240 were Muslims and 10 were Christians.

According to 1944–1945 land statistics:

• 2,801 dunamswere allocated for cereal cultivation.
• A small portion was irrigatedor used for orchards.

There were also three archaeological sites near the village:

• Khirbet al-Hamra(Grid ref: 195205) – the remains of a mill;
• Tallul al-Thum(Grid ref: 196205) – twin hills;
• Tell al-Khab(Grid ref: 1962059).
