Colony of Amka
July 14, 2025Yaarah is a moshav located in the north of the occupied Palestinian territories, near Ma’alot-Tarshiha. The moshav was established in 1950 on land that once belonged to the depopulated Palestinian village of Arab al-Samniyya. It was initially founded by immigrants from Yemen, and later joined by Zionist immigrants from North Africa and local Bedouins.
During the conflict between “Israel” and Hezbollah in the period 2023–2024, the northern border settlements of the occupied Palestinian territories, including Yaarah, were subject to targeted attacks by Hezbollah and Palestinian factions based in Lebanon, leading to their evacuation.
As of 2022, the settlement’s population stood at 806 settlers.
