Nir Oz Colony
November 3, 2025Nir Ganim is a religious moshav located in the south-central region of occupied Palestine, near Ashdod. It is situated in the southern coastal plain. The moshav was established in 1949 on land that belonged to the Palestinian village of Arab Saqr, whose residents were displaced during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War.
Initially, it was named Nir Vegal. Its founders were Holocaust survivors from Hungary and Central Europe, including a group of twins who survived the experiments of Josef Mengele. In 2009, a Holocaust Heritage House was established in the moshav. In 2021, the settler population was approximately 1,387.
