Nir Yitzhak colony
November 3, 2025Nir Hayin is a moshav located in southern-central occupied Palestine, situated between Ashkelon and Kiryat Gat. It was established in 1956 on the lands of the depopulated village of al-Faluja. The moshav was named in memory of 58 passengers who were aboard El Al flight 402, which was shot down over Bulgarian airspace approximately one year prior to the establishment of the moshav.
The moshav was originally settled by Zionist refugees from North Africa, later joined by additional immigrants and native Israelis. In 2022, the settler population was approximately 575.
