Ma’ayan Tzvi Colony

Ma’ayan Tzvi is a kibbutz located near the settlement of Zikhron Ya’akov. It was established on 30 August 1938 as part of the “Tower and Stockade” settlement project by members of the Maccabi Youth Movement, who had fled Nazi Germany. The kibbutz was originally named Ma’ayan, and it was built on land that had traditionally belonged to the depopulated Palestinian village of Kabara, in the Haifa Subdistrict.

In 1945, the name “Tzvi” was added to honor Zvi Frank, a Zionist activist and one of the heads of the Jewish Colonization Association, which purchased the land for the kibbutz.

As of 2021, the kibbutz had a population of 762 settlers.
