Eilon Settlement

Eilon is a kibbutz located in northern Mandatory Palestine. The kibbutz is situated one mile south of the Lebanese border and six miles east of the Mediterranean coast, in Western Galilee on a series of hills. It was established in 1938 on land belonging to the depopulated village of Al-Qabbab, in the Ramla district, on an area of 400 dunams of land that was appropriated by the Jewish National Fund (JNF). In that year, it was settled by a group of Polish immigrants. The residents found themselves under continuous fire following the Arab Revolt in Palestine (1936-1939). Eilon was one of the early settlements with watchtowers and checkpoints.

By 1947, the kibbutz’s population had grown to 350 settlers. It succeeded in reclaiming rocky lands that the British Mandate government had classified as unsuitable for agriculture. Initially, the kibbutz was affiliated with Hachshomer Hatzair. As of 2022, its population was |||| settlers.
