Nitzanim Colony
October 1, 2025Netivot is a colony built in 1956 on the lands of the Tarabin tribe, west of Beersheba. It covers an area of 5,626 square meters and has a population of 5,565 settlers. It is one of the colonies that came under the control of the resistance as part of the "Al-Aqsa Flood" operation.
The first settlers were from Morocco and Tunisia, and in the 1990s they were joined by settlers from Russia and Ethiopia. For many years, Netivot suffered from high unemployment rates, and since 2008 it has become a target for rocket attacks from Gaza.
