November 2, 2025Yakhini is an Orthodox moshav located in the northern Negev desert in the southern part of the occupied Palestinian territories, near Sderot. The moshav was established in 1950 by Zionist immigrants from Yemen, who were brought to the occupied Palestinian territories during Operation Magic Carpet, when most Yemenite Jews arrived in the country. The moshav was named after one of the sons of Simeon, the son of the patriarch Jacob, as it is situated in an area that belonged to the tribe of Simeon in Biblical times.
Yakhini was established on the lands of the depopulated Palestinian village of Al-Muharraqa. On October 7, 2023, the site was the location of the Yakhini massacre. In 2019, the population of the settlement was approximately 734 settlers.
