November 5, 2025Givat Nili is a settlement located in northern occupied Palestine near the Wadi Ara area. The settlement was established in 1953 by immigrants from Iraq, Turkey, Morocco, and Tunisia on the lands of the depopulated village of Umm al-Shuf. In 1956, the settlement was connected to the national electricity grid. In 2022, the settler population was approximately 704.
The settlement is named after Metro Tili, who worked in “Israel” in the early twentieth century.
As of 2008, about 120 settler families lived in the settlement. The farmers, most of whom are from the founding generation, cultivate grapes for wine and food purposes, grow fruit, and raise livestock.
