November 5, 2025Geva Carmel is a small settlement in northern occupied Palestine, located on the lands of the depopulated village of Je‘a in the Haifa district, near Atlit. In 2021, the settler population was 1,192.
The Moshav Geva Carmel was established in 1949 by immigrants from Tunisia and Turkey, including Moshe Sardin, who later served as a member of the Knesset for the Maki party. The moshav takes its name from the Jewish Hellenistic city of Geva, which, according to Josephus, was located in a large plain near the Galilee and Mount Carmel.
According to Walid Khalidi, it was built east of the village of Sarafand, named after the depopulated Palestinian village of Je‘a, approximately half a kilometer northwest of the original village site.
