Geva Carmel Colony
November 5, 2025Kiryat Ata is a “Zionist” colony located east of the coastal city of Haifa. It was established by Zionist immigrants to Palestine in 1925 as a colony on the ruins of the town of Kafr Yata and adjacent to the Palestinian villages of Wa’ra al-Saris, both of which were depopulated as a result of the 1948 war. The colony expanded onto lands confiscated from these villages following the displacement of their inhabitants in April 1948. According to statistics from 2019, the settler population numbered approximately 58,267.
