November 5, 2025Yokneam, also known as Yokneam Illit, is an Israeli settlement located southeast of the city of Haifa. It was established in 1935 as a Zionist settlement on land that had belonged to the depopulated Palestinian village of Qira.
By 1945, the settlers had acquired all the lands of the village, prior to the displacement of its Arab inhabitants during the Nakba in 1948.
As of 2019, the number of settlers in Yokneam was approximately 23,311.
