Beit Meir is a moshav located nine miles from the city of Jerusalem, opposite the highway between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. It was established in 1950 on the ruins of the depopulated village of Beit Mahsir, with support from the Jewish National Fund and under pressure from the Zionist leader Meir Bar-Ilan.
According to 2017 statistics, the population of Beit Meir was 778 settlers, predominantly religious Zionists.
Although the original settlers later left, the moshav was subsequently resettled by Jews from Cochin. The name “Mahseya” is derived from the Book of Jeremiah. As of 2021, the population of the settlement was 493 settlers, and by 2023, it increased to 650.
