Beit Zeit is an agricultural colony (moshav) in the occupied Palestinian territories, located approximately seven kilometers west of the city of Jerusalem. The settlement was established in 1949 on the lands of the depopulated village of by a group of Jewish immigrants from Yugoslavia, Romania, and Hungary, followed later by immigrants from Yemen and Egypt.
Its economy is based on fruit orchards, vegetable farming, poultry, and other agricultural products. Beit Zeit is situated on the edge of the Jerusalem Forest and operates a public swimming pool. Nearby is the Ein Karem dam, which was constructed to store floodwaters during the winter. In 2007, its population was approximately 1,300 settlers.
